Batam OCIP Post Reflection

I'm back from Batam OCIP!
It has been a marvellous time spent in Batam and I really love 1T11. EVERY SINGLE PERSON.
Last time, when chatting about JC life with my ex-classmates or anybody, I will freely bash the class and say that its a terrible class, blahblah.
But after this Batam trip, I have realised that 1T11 is the awesomest class EVER and it really beats any other class in CJ handsdown.
Seriously, you can't find a more perfect combination anywhere else.
Stella had her 10 reasons on why 1T11 is the best and now, I'm going to do a variation, Li Ting-style, on why 1T11 is the best.

1) We work well together.
We finished the bulk of the painting by the 2nd day which was really really fast, and 1T14 only managed to finish the fence with Debra's group's help.

2) All our brains put together gives fantastic results.
Just look at the awesome classroom we built.

3) Mr Lim takes awesome pictures with his two-months pay camera, so 1T11 has the best pictures.

4) We are a multi-lingual class.
All speak Chinese and English. Some are extremely proficient with both. 2 French speakers. 3 Bahasa speakers. 1 German. 1 who knows a bit of Thai. 1 Korean ((:.

5) We take care of each other.

6) We are comfortable around one another. PLAYING WITH PAINT.

7) WE HAVE NO GUYS! (:

8) Everyone is funny.

9) We enjoy each other's company

10) All class members are indispensable. And we'll ALWAYS be 1T11 wherever we end up in in future.

11) Most importantly, I can safely say that everyone loves the class.

rather, what i mean is ME > insert any other individual
to be able to cherish the world properly, you need to learn how to do so.
and in order to learn how to do so, you need to first treasure yourself, because everything starts from you. even BEFORE your family.
you need to have that personal security, or you would not be able to spread it, and secure the rest of the people around you.
so, in conclusion, you are extremely important. you're not insignificant, and you can do whatever you set out to do. have faith in yourself, because if you don't, its not that no one will, but the fact is, no one will have as much faith as you can invest in yourself.

I'm conventional in the sense I don't believe people should spoil themselves too much.
Why exaggerate so much?
All the teachers make the math paper seem like its something gruelling and scare us with stories, like,

"Be prepared for the 3 hour math paper. It can kill you, so pace yourselves. It's terrible. Just like the O level's math paper"

Then you start thinking,

"What's the big fuss? The O level math paper wasn't even gruelling. You exaggerate too much."

Some of the people around you start doing "preparations" for the LONGGGG paper. They keep worrying and talking about how they won't be able to survive the paper. You just feel like snapping at them and saying "OMG! It's not even that bad. STOP going on about it!"
Maybe its just me.. But I don't really care for those who worry too much or fuss too much about things.
And by worrying and fussing, I do not mean working hard and being ultra-determined to do well. That, in fact, I applaud.
What I mean is like worrying, complaining, feeling pity for themselves. This really really annoys me no end.

Another example would be the OBS case.
-Whinewhinecomplaincomplain- DON'T EVEN HELP OUT!
I mean, DUH, everyone is not used to this circumstances. Everyone has been frightened with horror stories by their seniors and teachers.
But you see them actually discovering themselves.
The main point is to actually achieve something and learn better survival skills, albeit finding discovering something you didn't know about yourselves.

I hate it when people exaggerate and tell me stuff I wouldn't have realised was bad in the first place.
HONESTLY, this is WHY youths nowadays are SO spoilt. They have been accustomed to the many problems that parents and teachers have countlessly told them about.
If NOTHING was said. THE PROBLEM WON'T EXIST.
And this time, I won't even blame the youths.
They are at fault for being such a terrible generation.
BUT THE ROOT CAUSE FOR THIS UPBRINGING IS THE EXPECTATIONS INGRAINED BY THEIR EDUCATORS AND CARE-GIVERS.
Another thing that is blameable is the media. The spoilt rich kids on MTV and stuff. They're the type of people I can't stand the most. ARGH.
The kind of values they teach to those impressionable youths watching those shows. I really shudder to imagine...

I'm NOT targetting anyone in general (only maybe the OBS case. :P)
And I'm definitely NOT targetting anyone who reads my blog.

And those people whom you look down upon go, "HAH! This is hilarious. I can see from your expression. You think you're all that." Then, " For being able to see through you, I'm way above your low-level snobbery. I shan't stoop to your level and highly regard myself and you do yourself."

And it repeats itself round and round and round.

Who's the real victor?
That's the key question.

People always argue that the real victor is the second one, the one who says that he will not be as proud or haughty as the first.
But how true is that?
By making that statement that he can see through the other person's "act" of snobbery, he is effectively letting himself feel the same way as the other person. Elevating your own status and letting yourself get proud for "winning" in your own opinion.

So, naturally, I would say that the real victor is the one who sits at the side and laughs at these people's foolishness.

But this person also feels like she's/he's the real victor, so in the same sense, he is elevating his own sense of superiority.

SO WHO is the real winner? The one who triumphs over the rest?

In that sense, the humble one who does his own thing and disregards how people feel about him and does not look down upon people. The one who just compares with himself.

This would supposedly define the true winner.
But then, this "true winner" is isolated from mankind in the way he does not regard their opinions highly or see himself as a person possible for higher achievements, especially since the "achievements" would be defined by societal achievements.

You can't have your cake and eat it.

I'm in a strange mode. I'm unable to find any form of rest. I'm jumpy and tense, something seems to be lacking.

now, I have to get OUT of this mess, and this procedure is too painful and tedious to undertake during this period of examinations.

What to do?

I must sustain. Keep fighting as HOTTEST are doing now.

This is NOT the time to give up easily and say, " I'm tired. I don't want to do this anymore. I don't want to care anymore."

This cannot crush me that easily.

You guys can do it. It's usually the beginning that's the toughest. It gets better after that, when you hit the momentum of doing examinations.

Your mental stamina and prowess can only improve as time passes.

It's just a test of how well you know your work and if you paid attention and were constant over the year in studying, this shouldn't prove much of a problem. And seeing you guys, I believe you all will do very well with the huge amount of effort and work you have put in.

How hard you have studied during the short span of time before the examinations is purely just REVISION.

Book Recommendation

I just read a book by this author called Kevin Brooks, Lucas.

My sister borrowed it from her sch library and being me, I picked it up and just started reading it.

It impacted me greatly.

Let me realise that everything is so fleeting.

It was disgustingly romantic, but not in the chick-flicky kind of way, but more of the emotional way.

It's the type of love that doesn't just mean physical attraction. Is this the kind of love Birkin was looking for?

And the best part was, they didn't even mention the word "love" once.

This definitely achieved much better what Lawrence didn't manage to achieve.

The description of emotions.

It ended with the boy choosing death by stepping into the mudflats and sinking down, drowning himself.

But his death was peaceful, he was calm and he knew that it was and yet, was not a sort of escape route for him. He was the troubled, yet peaceful boy.

In fact, he's like a living contradiction.

So enigmatic and mysterious. Rather byronic hero-like, I must say. Always rushing/moving in calmly to save Caitlin.

This book gave me a very strange feeling. Like sadness, cos I didn't think he would die, (he's meant to be invincible! I always felt that he would resurrect by some hook or crook) But the last line was especially impactful. So much like Lawrence.

I can't remember the exact line, but it was something like,"And it would never end."

It reflects that life always goes on, change will keep going on, conflict will never end either. That's it with people.

The society in the book totally disgusted me. The zombie-like people who fed on trouble and strive. They're blood-thirsty, seeking the relief through the blood-shed of an innocent boy. They would never leave up until their animalistic natures are fulfilled, through the death of Lucas. And he knew it.

I must say its one of the books I enjoyed, for being not chick-flicky or school-work based, in a long time. It's refreshing.

But I would have liked it if he didn't die.

I do love happy endings, although I always complain about that clichedness.

I can feel the pain and it hurts. T.T I was never a strong person.

Should I remove some of the burden or should I take the whole load and leave it there, risking all?

But I wouldn't be able to stand the constant stares, telling me I don't deserve to have it, that I should just pull out and make myself scarce.

Telling me to stop being in the way, hindering, spoiling everything.

I don't want to be a nuisance.

For the greater good, I should ignore what I feel and do what she wants me to do. Just drop out.

In the long run, its a better option because it relieves my stress, gives me less to worry about.

I'm tired, I have been runnning for a long time, I've been running harder and faster than I have ever done before.

I don't need a pair of new running shoes that will hurt me. It might or might not be good for the long run, but i know for sure, in the short run, it will give me lots and lots of blisters. Wearing me down both mentally, spiritually and physically.

I would hate to think my efforts have been wasted.

I shall put in more work, and overcome it.

But in order to do that, I know I need to remove some of the burden.

It's been crazy.

And I'm tired/exturged.

My life circles around 2PM, studying and eating healthily.

But now, at least I can cancel out the eating healthily part.

I went out shopping and library-ing today.

I know I shouldn't be doing this at this point of time, I should be studying and mugging and who-knows-what..

But I had fun. I devoured 2 books. I have forgotten how much I loved reading. Fantasy and horror(?) written in sci-fi style.

And I bought another jacket to add to my growing collection.

Harsh is the very word I will use to describe some Koreans' attitude towards their media industry.

They have such a budding, beautiful media industry and they're just tearing it down with their bare hands.

Look what they did to Jay?

He's really talented. He can rap, he can sing, he's the best dancer ever, and look at his attitude towards his career. Only one word suffices: Committed. He's nothing but COMMITTED. His love towards his dongsaengs. His constantly working out. Giving his all, just to be able to fulfil his dreams. I admire his perseverance.(And I really really wish that I had the same focus, the same mental stamina to be able to do all that I want to do. But I don't have the strength nor focus.)

Other than YEH, Khun (so angel-like, perfect). Jaebum is another role model that I admire for his doing his best to fulfil his dream. Giving a lot isn't enough. You MUST give your all.

It wasn't entirely his fault that this whole thing happened. The repercussions were too great. Even his steely determination was shattered. How can they do this? It takes a lot to take down such a strong person.

I hope Jay does go back. The 2PM boys must really be missing him a lot. It's almost like losing a brother, after all they have gone through.

Honestly, in a weird way, I agree with the Underground 2PM fans. All or NOTHING. But it would be too extremist to support them. Jay's leaving should not take the rest down with him unless they make the conscious decision to quit too. So until his return, HOTTEST will have to support both Jay and the rest of 2PM, although they're in two different places. This bond transcends all boundaries, 2PM is one.
